Mitosis is a type of cell division wherein, one cell divide to produce two new cell. There are four phases in mitosis, prophase, metaphase, anaphase and telophase.

  • Prophase - the duplicated chromosome starts to converge in the nucleus.
  • Metaphase - the chromosome will line up in middle of the nucleus. Kinetochores of each chromosome will be attached to the opposite spindle.
  • Anaphase - the sister chromatids separate from each other and are pulled towards opposite ends of the cell.    
  • Telophase - which is the last phase, the cell will be divided into two and cytokinesis happen. The chromosome will decondense in nucleus of the cell.
